Dora somehow got into the shelter when she was a tiny kitten. She was accepted by all the adult cats, but has always been extremely afraid of humans. This is changing as she now will come and brush her head against one's leg and you can just about touch her. In other words, she is not ready for adoption yet, but is looking promising! She has been sterilised and dewormed.

Alexi has been adopted
Alexi was found in a garden in Monte Pego. He is born 15/5, has been castrated and is a very friendly and calm cat, good with the other cats in the shelter. He was adopted, but had to be returned because the owners cats didn't accept him - you can still see the hint of a scratch on his nose. :( He would dearly like a home!

We desperately need short-term and/or long-term foster carers to look after sick cats and (very soon) kittens. We could not function without our foster carers. The job varies: Looking after a cat or kitten that is a bit shy and needs plenty of TLC (very rewarding!). Or looking after kittens that can eat normal kitten food but are too small to live in the shelter (easy and fun!). Or kittens that needs to be bottle-fed regularly (more involved job). Or a sick cat that needs vet visits and/or medicine. Or a cat that is being bullied at the shelter. Please phone Val and discuss what is involved. You will of course meet the cat or kitten(s) before you accept. SCAN will pay for food, vet and medicine.

We also need people who would like to help with feeding/cleaning at the shelter a couple of hours a week. Come and visit us and see what the job is about before you accept!
Likewise we need people to socialise with our cats at the shelter.
If you like doing DIY-work, we have a job for you! Please come and see what is involved. It can be as easy or as involved as you like!

Bella is a lovely green-eyed Tortoiseshell kitten, rescued from the small mountain in Oliva's old town. She is probably 6 month old, now sterilised and has obviously been dumped on the mountain to fend for herself as she is used to be with humans. She is both goodlooking and friendly - and - best of all - she will like all Calico and Tortoishell cats bring good luck to you and your family!

Tabby cats are popular with many. They are not really a breed, but merely a colour pattern you can meet in many breeds. But they are as you can see always cute! You can see photos of many more on this site. As you can see, we have them is all ages, shapes and colours, so visit our shelter and see them for yourself; no obligations - our cats will appreciate the visit!

Laura was found with kittens at a swimming pool and taken to safety at the shelter. Her kittens have now grown up and she can at long last leave them and get a life of her own after having been a mother twice. She is a very calm and friendly cat born March 2010. A real family cat you can trust with small children.

Please microchip your pets!
Many of the cats and kittens arriving to our shelter are housecats who have got lost while on walkabout or after having been chased by a dog or cat.
You should therefore make sure all your pets have been equipped with a microchip and that the registry has your current address and telephone number.
